The 2024 Dorchester County Charter Review Commission recommendations have been presented to the Dorchester County Council and may be found HERE If you would like to comment on the recommendations, an open public comment period will be held at the County Council’s Tuesday, March 19, 2024 meeting at 6:00 p.m. in Room 110 of the County Office Building, 501 Court Lane, Cambridge, MD. Comments may also be mailed to P.O. Box 26, Cambridge, MD 21613 or emailed to CRC@docogonet.com.

Hotel Tax for Short-term Rentals and Hotels

Dorchester County imposes a hotel rental tax of 5% on any establishment that offers sleeping accommodations for compensation.  A “hotel” includes: an apartment, a cottage, a hostelry, an inn, a motel, rooming house or a tourist home (commonly referred to as short-term rentals).  To register and pay hotel rental taxes up to $10,000, please contact the Finance Office at 410-228-7291.  To pay hotel rental taxes over $10,000, a hotel tax form and remittance instructions can be found here.  Please contact the Finance Office if you have any questions 410-228-7291.
